full electric wide-body truck trial in open-pit coal mine

Release time: December 19, 2024

From July 18 to September 17, 2019, a brand of full electric wide-body truck was tested in an open-pit coal mine in Xinjiang, operating in a single shift (day shift). During this period, the vehicle completed tests in multiple operating scenarios, including heavy vehicle down, heavy vehicle up, flat road driving and other working conditions, with a one-way distance of about 2 to 2.5 km and a lifting height of 33 m.

In order to ensure the objectivity and comparability of the test data, the mine specially arranged a fuel wide-body truck with the same tonnage in good condition to compete with the full electric wide-body truck on the same platform, and tested their respective operating efficiency and energy consumption under the same working conditions.

Full electric wide-body truck trial data

1) Charging data

The full electric mining truck was trial-operated in the open-pit coal mine for a total of 62 days from July 18 to September 17, 2019. It actually ran for 60 days, with an attendance rate of 100% and 78 charging times, of which 18 days were charged twice within one day.

Analyzing the operation data of the charging pile, the charging speed of the full electric wide-body vehicle fluctuates between 3.88 and 4.8 kwh per minute, with an average of 4.50 kwh per minute, and the charging speed is generally stable.

During normal operation, when the SOC drops to 15%, it is necessary to stop production and return to the charging pile for energy replenishment. It takes about 100 minutes for the SOC to go from 15% to 100%.

2) Actual load

The two models were weighed separately, and a total of 8 tons were drawn during the period. Combined with the previous transportation data for statistical analysis, the density of stripping materials is 2.36 t/m3, the average volume of stripping materials carried by each fuel wide-body vehicle is 28.2 m3, and the average volume of stripping materials carried by each full electric wide-body vehicle is 26.6 m3.

3) Energy consumption cost

During the test, full electric dump truck and fuel truck were operated simultaneously. Based on the electricity price of 0.5 yuan/kWh and diesel price of 6.3 yuan/L, the average transportation distance of electric trucks was 2.145 km and the average transportation distance of fuel trucks was 2.135 km. The fuel consumption, electricity consumption, and transportation volume were counted to calculate the energy consumption.

After 62 days of operation, the energy consumption cost of full electric wide-body dump truck is obviously advantageous, which is about 30% of that of diesel trucks.
