Types of Dump Trucks and Their Uses in Chile

Cochilco said mineral exploration and mining activities are closely related to metal price trends. In recent years, the prices of minerals such as copper, gold and lithium have risen. It is expected that market demand will also increase in the next few years, which will push more foreign companies to seek new mineral deposits in Chile, thereby promoting more mineral projects to be put into operation. A dump truck is a vehicle used on construction sites to transport construction materials to and from the site. Older types of trucks were dumped manually, but now new types of dump trucks are available and they can undoubtedly perform their tasks with water driven mechanisms.

Dump trucks are an important part of our mechanized modern life. From building sites, street construction, food hauling and mining to transporting large quantities of materials, dump trucks have a significant impact on keeping our public turning pieces of machine gear.

The size range and unloading components of a dump truck depend on the planning reasons for the truck. Most dump trucks can be driven on typical public streets, while others are too bulky and must be used on site.

1. Standard dump truck:

A standard dump truck is a flexible vehicle that has many modern industrial uses. The standard dump truck uses a standard truck suspension but incorporates dump enclosure mounting points in the cargo transfer bay.

The main technology is a separate hydraulic piston located under the front of the dump box near the truck cab. The piston uses hydraulic power to lift the front of the dump box, lower the rear of the dump box, and allow the load to slide out of the rear end.

A second strategy for lifting a dump box is to mount hydraulic pistons on one side or the other of the dump box, raising and lowering the load. The tailgates on these dump trucks can be top-pivot, base-pivot, or have their own pressure drive that lifts the rear end far when unloading a load.

Because these dump trucks use a standard truck chassis, they are roadworthy and can be driven on standard streets and highways in and around our urban communities. Standard dump trucks offer excellent maneuverability but cannot negotiate the soft soil and rough terrain conditions of large construction destinations. Therefore, standard tippers are used on residential construction sites, street construction and agricultural applications.

2. Super dump truck:

A Super Dump Truck is a typical semi-truck trailer dump truck with an extra towing axle at the end of the trailer. The additional pivots can be lifted off the road when the truck is unloaded, thereby reducing the tax generated by vehicles with a specific number of axles on the road. When the truck is fully stacked, the rear axle is hydraulically positioned into position to extend further to the rear of the trailer and connect to the street.

This stacks trucks in a more prominent area, increasing the legal delivery capacity of those trucks. This increases their payload capacity per trip, thereby increasing the benefits of each load. The additional delivery capacity of these trucks has prompted them to be called super dump trucks.

3. Winter Weather Dump Truck:

Dump trucks are always used as snow clearing vehicles in places that experience heavy or heavy snowfall in the blight. These are standard, rugged dump trucks that have been modified to work within this limitation.

5. Side dump truck:

Side dump trucks have the option of unloading cargo from the side of the dump box. The dumping mechanisms of these trucks come in different configurations.

These trucks are usually a semi-truck and trailer combination, with the dumping mechanism integrated into the trailer rather than being dependent on the truck. Side dump trucks often pull different side dump trailers to expand the amount of cargo transported on a single trip.

Side dump trucks are equipped with or equipped with a hydraulic mechanism at the front and rear of the dump box, which rotates the dump box on its central axis. This action tilts the dump box to one side, emptying the sides of the box.

6. Transport dump truck:

Dump trucks are very large and can transport anywhere from 40 tons to 400 tons of material per load. The load limit or breaking point will depend on the size of the truck. Most transport dump trucks are dual-axle; however, larger versions can have up to 3 axles.

Due to their size, these heavy duty transport vehicles are not intended or planned for use on public roads and are restricted to on-site use only.

Transport dump trucks can have two unloading mechanisms. The main type is the customary hydraulic front lift of the dump box, which moves the dump box to allow the load to drop from the rear.

7. Semi-trailer dump truck:

The semi-truck trailer hybrid can likewise be configured to function as a dump truck. These vehicles use a standard semi-truck as towing power, but the trailer is a modified section combined with dumping capabilities.

End dump means the cargo is dumped from the back of the trailer. The length of these trailers and the huge loads they transport require a very strong hydraulic piston at the front of the trailer to lift the front end and dump the cargo.

The size of the piston provides good visibility when lifting the dump box to remove cargo, however, its length also means it is susceptible to damage.

Operators of these trucks need to be careful not to damage the hydraulic pistons when unloading. If the dump box is overloaded, the load is unevenly distributed, or it is unloaded on an unbalanced floor, the hydraulic piston may twist, damaging the lifting mechanism. If the truck becomes unbalanced during unloading, the entire truck may tip over.

Semi-truck dump trucks are used for large loads that can be moved or transported, and the truck can travel on normal streets and highways.

These dump trucks are not suitable for construction sites with rough terrain or fragile ground because the trailer does not have drive wheels to assist the truck in these situations.

8. Semi-trailer bottom dump truck:

The setup of a semi-truck trailer bottom dumper is similar to that of a semi-truck trailer end dumper, but the trailer has an alternate shape and unloading procedure. Bottom or bottom dump trucks are also called belly dump trucks because the cargo is dumped from the bottom or perimeter of the dump box

The shape of the dump box is crucial for the bottom dump mechanism to ensure that the entire cargo is dumped and there is almost no cargo left inside the dump box. With its sides sloping towards the center, some parts of the landfill bin are alluded to as a clamshell floor plan.

When the lower part of the flap is opened, the load is placed directly beneath the dump box. This method of dumping allows the truck to move forward, keeping the load on the desired line.

These dump trucks are used most of the time to transport grain for agriculture or food production, but can also transport sand for development

What’s The Difference Between A Dump Truck And A Dumper?

A dump truck is a type of heavy-duty vehicle, which is designed to transport loose materials such as dirt, sand and aggregates such as gravel just to name a few. A typical dump truck has an open trailer box (similar to a skip) located at the back of the vehicle, in which the operator uses hydraulic pistons to either raise or lower the box. This facilitates the loading and unloading of loose materials. On the other hand, dumpers are smaller in size and more compact than dump trucks. Another difference is a typical dumper still has the open trailer box, but it is located at the front of the vehicle, instead of the back. The box is operated in a similar way to the dump truck.
